January 23, 2003

Ms. Trudi Williams, Chairman

South Florida Water Management District

3301 Gun Club Road

West Palm Beach , Florida 33416-4680

Dear Ms. Williams,

We understand that the Board of Governors will soon consider a proposal to add waters within the Charlotte Harbor area to the District’s Surface Water Improvement & Management program.  We wholeheartedly support such an action, and ask you and the other members of the Board of Governors to approve of this proposal!

The waters of the Charlotte Harbor area are some of the most significant waters in this region, and their protection is important to all the citizens of Southwest Florida .  Development and implementation of a SWIM management plan will help to ensure that Charlotte Harbor ’s natural resources are safeguarded so that future generations can enjoy the economic, social and aesthetic values that these waters provide.

Sincerely,

Michael R. Bauer, J.D., Ph.D.

Chairman
